30-Day Book Challenge: Day 18

30 Day Book Challenge (2)

Hey Guys!

Welcome to Day 18 of this 30-Day Book Challenge. The challenge is simple; for each day there is a statement and you have to choose a book or series that relates to said statement. Let’s begin!

Day 1 (18)

My pick for this challenge goes to Daughter of Deep Silence by Carrie Ryan. I have a full review of this book, which you can check out HERE. This book starts out with our main character Frances Mace, who is fourteen-years-old at the time. She and her parents were on vacation on the cruise ship Persephone. While on the ship, she meets a girl also her age named Elizabeth O’Martin, Libby for short, as well as a guy named Greyson Wells, son of Senator Wells. Everything is great, until one night, men board the ship with guns, killing everyone on board—or so they think. Elizabeth and Frances manage to escape, only for Elizabeth to die at sea. When Frances is rescued, she learns that the Senator and his son also survived, but they lie about the attack. In order to find out what really happened on the boat, Frances becomes Elizabeth and tries to put the pieces together to figure out the truth and plot her revenge.

Every time I see this book and read the synopsis, I just want to scream LIES!!! This book started off great. It was all about plotting and getting revenge and I was excited, but then we get to the middle and I soon realized that this was not a book about revenge, but rather just another sappy YA love story. Frances gets caught up in her feelings for Greyson and the rest of the book mainly just focuses on her inner conflict between exposing Senator Wells and his son or letting everything go and falling for Grey. This could have been epic, but it was more like an epic fail…

That’s all for this post! Until tomorrow…

I'm Ari, a local NYC bibliophile and a forever daydreamer. You can usually find me with my nose buried in a book and my head up in the clouds. I am also a coffee addict and a chocolate connoisseur. I fell in love with the romance genre about three years ago and I haven't been able to stop reading about happily-ever-afters, which is ironic because I'm a bit of a cynical romantic in real life, haha. I hope you all enjoy my blog and fangirling with me about all the smutty reads!
