Updating best friend to girlfriend is more than a change of status…

Emma has been best friends with Eli since she moved to his neighborhood ten years ago. Tired of being cast in the role of the girl next door, Emma creates a fake Facebook profile in the hopes of starting an online friendship with Eli, which would hopefully lead to more. Like…way more. From friend request to In a Relationship–it all seemed so completely logical when she’d planned it.

Eli can’t figure out what Emma is up to. He’s pretty sure she’s the one behind the Facebook profile, but then again, why would she do something so drastic instead of just admitting she wants to be more than friends? And who the heck is this new guy he saw her with? Eli starts to think that just maybe…he missed his chance with the girl next door.

Two best friends, one outlandish ruse. Their status is about to become way more than It’s Complicated…

This Entangled Teen Crush book contains one fake Facebook profile, two best friends who secretly crave each other, and a dreaded sex talk with parents…boy crush in the room included. Pushing a relationship beyond the friend zone has never been so crazy…

The cover for this book screams ROM-COM! I like it!

Emma and Eli have been best friends for years. But now, Emma no longer wishes to be just to be seen as the girl-next-door. No, she wants more and she is willing do whatever it takes to get Eli’s attention, including creating a fake Facebook profile, which may end up doing more harm than good.

This book is told from Emma’s POV with dashes of Eli’s POV here and there. Although this was a quick and easy read, I found some parts of the plot to be a bit juvenile, especially since our main characters are about 16/17-years old.The silent treatments and over reacting over the littlest thing, like a flower, was just a bit too dramatic for my taste.

With that being said, I was still entertained by this book. IT’S ROM-COM! There were so many moments where I could not stop laughing. Every time you thought these two would finally get together, something came up and I was rolling my eyes, huffing and puffing, but still reading on to see what happened next.

I have a love/hate relationship with the characters in this book. While they are both very relatable characters, there were moments where I was just annoyed with them and the things they were doing.

Emma: I think we can all relate to Emma. Having a crush on a close friend and hoping that they somehow feel the same is something that many people have experienced, though I’m not so sure I would resort to cat-fishing my best friend to get him to notice me.

Eli: I really liked Eli for the most part, but what annoyed me about him was his sudden realization that he had feelings for Emma. DUDE, she was by your side for years and now you notice her?! I am actually not a big fan of this trope and I wish he would have stepped up to the plate sooner.

My favorite side character has to be Sarah, Emma’s best friend. She was the voice of reason and she basically lectured Emma throughout the story about how everything was going to come back and bite her later and IT DID! No surprise there.

I did have some minor issues with this book. One thing I didn’t like was that there were not enough Eli chapters and the few chapters told from his POV were a bit short. I WANTED MORE ELI!

Another issue I had was with the ending. I felt that everything was wrapped up a bit to quickly and it was a little to cliché for my taste.

Overall, I did enjoy this book. If your looking for a quick and easy read that will make you LAUGH-OUT-LOUD, I suggest picking up this book and giving it a go.

I'm Ari, a local NYC bibliophile and a forever daydreamer. You can usually find me with my nose buried in a book and my head up in the clouds. I am also a coffee addict and a chocolate connoisseur. I fell in love with the romance genre about three years ago and I haven't been able to stop reading about happily-ever-afters, which is ironic because I'm a bit of a cynical romantic in real life, haha. I hope you all enjoy my blog and fangirling with me about all the smutty reads!
