“People hope to touch the sky. I dream of kissing it.”- Connor, Kiss the Sky
Synopsis via Goodreads: Virgin. Sex addict. Daredevil. Alcoholic. Smartass … Jackass. Her five friends are about to be filmed. Reality TV, be prepared.
Rose Calloway thought she had everything under control. At twenty-three, she’s a Princeton graduate, an Academic Bowl champion, a fashion designer and the daughter of a Fortune 500 mogul. But with a sex addict as a sister and roommate, nothing comes easy.
After accepting help from a producer, Rose agrees to have her life filmed for a reality television show. The Hollywood exec is her last chance to revive her struggling fashion line, and boundaries begin to blur as she’s forced to make nice with a man who always has his way.
Twenty-four-year-old Connor Cobalt is a guy who bulldozes weak men. He’s confident, smart-as-hell and lives with his equally ambitious girlfriend, Rose Calloway. Connor has to find a way to protect Rose without ruining the show. Or else the producer will get what Connor has always wanted—Rose’s virginity.
I am already so madly in love with the Addicted series so I had high expectations for the spin-off series, Calloway Sisters. I was very excited to start Kiss the Sky because everyone raves about Connor Cobalt and Rose Calloway and I was curious to know why. I NOW UNDERSTAND THE OBSESSION THAT IS COBALLOWAY! This book exceeded my expectations and even though it may be too soon to call it, I think that this book may be my favorite of all the books between these two series.
Kiss the Sky continues where Addicted for Now left off and focuses on Connor Cobalt and Rose Calloway’s relationship. The reveal of Lily’s secret has negatively impacted all of the Calloway companies, including Rose’s fashion line, Calloway Couture. But Rose has an plan to help get her company back on its feet and it involves the big screen. She signs up for a reality television show in hopes of changing everyone’s view of the Calloway family and turn all that negative attention into something positive. But when she gets more than she bargained for, will Rose stay in character or will she pull the plug and fade to black?
Kiss the Sky was a nice break from all the heavy topics dealt with in the Addicted series. First off, the fact that these six characters were going to live under one roof for an extended period of time only meant one thing…DRAMA! I usually don’t like overly dramatic plots, but I WAS SO ENTERTAINED BY THESE CHARACTERS! The dialogue between these characters was too funny, especially with Rose threatening to castrate one of the guys every five minutes! Everyone may not have been on board with Rose’s idea, but they were still willing to help her find a way to save her fashion line. The experience inevitably brings them closer as they are the only ones who understand the pressures of being on TV and having their lives judged by complete strangers. Even though they may want to kill each other many times throughout this book, when shit hits the fan, and TRUST ME SHIT HITS THE FAN, they are all there for one another, willing to protect each other at all cost.
I got to admit, I am extremely surprised by both Rose and Connor’s characters. I was not expecting to love them as much as I did, especially Connor because he was my least favorite of all the guys and he is now my FAVORITE out of all of them. Rose and Connor have known each other for years and have always been in competition with each other and even though they are now a couple, they still try to out-do one another. They are both very much perfectionists, but in this book, we get to see their more vulnerable side. While Rose is fierce and independent, she does have fears and doubts and one of her fears about letting Connor in is that once she does, he may walk away. She also fears the company will fail and she will have to say goodbye to doing the thing she loves the most. But Connor helps to ease her doubts throughout this book. He constantly reminds her that she is safe with him no matter what. Connor too has his owns doubts because he doesn’t want to fail his mother’s company. He wants to be respected and taken seriously and realizes that sometimes success means making sacrifices for the one’s you love, which was a big lesson for him as he too struggles with actually allowing himself to love someone else other than himself.
But the best part is the romance. The chemistry between Rose and Connor is LIT AF, STEAMY GOODNESS, POUR SOME SUGAR ON ME, OH HOTT DAMN!
Yes, that doesn’t make any sense, but there is another side to Connor Cobalt and I was not expecting this from him. He dominates both outside and inside the bedroom and I was swooning over all the sexy scenes between Connor and Rose. I have never been jealous of a character before, but I would switch places with Rose Calloway in a heartbeat!
Kiss the Sky was full of surprises and I enjoyed this installment so much. I loved every page and the ending had my sobbing the happiest tears! CONNOR COBALT AND ROSE CALLOWAY ARE MY FOREVER OTP! I can’t wait to read more about them as I continue this series!
