Synopsis via Goodreads: Ryke Meadows, meet Daisy Calloway … she’s all grown up.

Twenty-five-year-old Ryke Meadows knows he’s hard to love. With a billion-dollar inheritance, a track-star resume, and an alpha-male personality—he redefines the term likable asshole. But he’s not living to make friends. Or enemies. He just wants to free climb three of the toughest mountains in Yosemite without drama or interruption.

And then he receives a distressed call from a girl in Paris—a girl that he has never been allowed to have.

Daisy Calloway is eighteen. Finally. With her newfound independence, she can say goodbye to her overbearing mother and continue her modeling career. Next stop, Paris. Fashion Week begins with a bang, and Daisy uncovers the ugly reality of the industry. She wants to prove to her family that she can live on her own, but when everything spirals out of control, she turns to Ryke to keep her secrets.

As Daisy struggles to make sense of this new world and her freedom, she pushes the limits and fearlessly rides the edge. Ryke knows there’s deep hurt beneath every impulsive action. He must keep up with Daisy, and if he lets her go, her favorite motto—“live as if you’ll die today”—may just come true.

Hothouse Flower picks up about two years after Kiss the Sky ends. Daisy Calloway is now 18-years-old supermodel living on her own. To outsiders, she’s a young, carefree girl who has everything going for her. But behind closed doors, night terrors and flashbacks keep her awake at night and the only person who she trust to keep her safe is Ryke Meadows. She’s had a long time crush on the loud-mouthed asshole and despite his rough edges, he’s always been there for her no matter what. Ryke has made a promise to never cross those boundaries with Daisy, but he will soon learn that some promises are meant to be broken.

I feel like I’ve been waiting FOREVER AND A DAY to finally read Daisy and Ryke’s story. Between the back and forth flirty banter and the bedroom-eyes across the room, I was ready to see these two finally get together. I did have to do some more waiting before all that tension was relieved, but THE WAIT WAS VERY MUCH WORTH IT! What I enjoyed most about this book was the character development and being able to see that other side of both Daisy and Ryke that they tend to hide from their family. Daisy comes off as this wild, young, confident girl who seems to have all together, but she actually doesn’t. She doesn’t want to be a model and I admire her for finally standing up for herself and telling her mother that she no longer wishes to be a supermodel. This is a brave step for Daisy because she absolutely hates letting people down and she was afraid that her decision to quit modeling would forever change her relationship with her mother, but at the end of the day, she had to do what was right for her in order for her to be happy. Ryke comes off as your typical Grade-A asshole, but we get to see a whole other side of Ryke in this book, the sweeter side. Who knew Ryke Meadows was such a romantic sweet talker because I sure as hell did not see that coming. The chemistry has always been there between these two so of course the romance was STEAMY AS HELL! FEELS, FEELS EVERYWHERE! Ryke also learns that sometimes people are worth a second chance as he tries to mend fences with his father. They may not be on good terms as of yet, but they are at least trying.

But can we also take a minute to talk about THE EPIC BROMANCE HAPPENING IN THIS BOOK! Even though they may get under each other’s skin, Loren, Connor and Ryke care about each other and they support each other no matter what. The witty banter between these three is so entertaining and they manage to become even closer by the end of this book, especially Ryke and Loren who despite being brothers, have always kept each other arm’s length. Loren starts to trust Ryke more and I’m excited to see where Ryke, Loren and Jonathan Hale’s relationship will go. I think that Jonathan loves both of his sons very much, he just doesn’t do a good job at showing that love.

Hothouse Flower does end with a bit of a twist. I’m anxious to see where things go from here because I wasn’t expecting that and I can’t really say I’m too happy that things went in that direction. I’m ready to get back to the Addicted series to see how this twist plays out and I’m really pulling for Team LiLo to make it past this new obstacle as a team. These authors haven’t let me down yet and I’m crossing my fingers for a good outcome.

I'm Ari, a local NYC bibliophile and a forever daydreamer. You can usually find me with my nose buried in a book and my head up in the clouds. I am also a coffee addict and a chocolate connoisseur. I fell in love with the romance genre about three years ago and I haven't been able to stop reading about happily-ever-afters, which is ironic because I'm a bit of a cynical romantic in real life, haha. I hope you all enjoy my blog and fangirling with me about all the smutty reads!
