Synopsis via Goodreads: These Royals will ruin you…

From mortal enemies to unexpected allies, two teenagers try to protect everything that matters most.

Ella Harper has met every challenge that life has thrown her way. She’s tough, resilient, and willing to do whatever it takes to defend the people she loves, but the challenge of a long-lost father and a boyfriend whose life is on the line might be too much for even Ella to overcome.

Reed Royal has a quick temper and even faster fists. But his tendency to meet every obstacle with violence has finally caught up with him. If he wants to save himself and the girl he loves, he’ll need to rise above his tortured past and tarnished reputation.

No one believes Ella can survive the Royals. Everyone is sure Reed will destroy them all.
They may be right.

With everything and everyone conspiring to keep them apart, Ella and Reed must find a way to beat the law, save their families, and unravel all the secrets in their Twisted Palace.

After Broken Prince ended with a DOUBLE PLOT TWISTED CLIFFHANGER, I WAS DYING TO KNOW what was going to happen next. I marked the release date of Twisted Palace on my calendar and once again I was mentally preparing myself for the crazy that was about to go down. I had my theories set. I had my supporting evidence laid out. All that was left was seeing which of my theories were right and getting some DAMN ANSWERS

Twisted Palace picks up right where Broken Prince left off, with Reed Royal in handcuffs and accused of murder and Ella finding out that her dead parent is not so dead after all. I’m not going to say much else about the plot, but I will say that it was NERVE-RACKING AS HELL. These authors had me second guessing all my theories until the very end and I was anxious to see who this crazy killer was. With that being said, I do admit I am slightly disappointed with the final installment in The Royals series.

What I loved most about Paper Princess and Broken Prince were the page-turning plots, constant over the top dramatics, the laugh-out-loud moments and the deadly plot twists. I don’t usually like drama in my books, but the drama in these books were SO ADDICTING and I couldn’t get enough of the crazy situations Ella and the Royal brothers found themselves in. But with Twisted Palace, things were slowed down and there was more of a heaviness to this story that at times, dragged it down and made me wonder WHERE IS THE FUN?! I MISSED THE SHENANIGANS SO DAMN MUCH! However, I did like the fact that the authors gave more attention to a few of our secondary characters as they too had their own problems going on. These side stories are totally setting us up for the spin-off series. It’s going to happen, I JUST KNOW IT!

As for the characters, one character in particular had me so frustrated that I actually had to stop reading or I was going to throw my eReader across the room. I THOUGHT BROOKE WAS BAD, BUT DAMN THIS CHARACTER TAKES THE CAKE! Then there’s Ella, my badass, weave-snatching, never backs down from a fight girl…WHERE WAS THAT GIRL?! Ella takes a lot of things lying down in this book, especially from one character in particular, and I just missed the girl who would push back when others tried to push her down. Don’t get me wrong, I still love Ella, but I expected more from her in this book. As for Reed, I knew this book would somehow manage to change how I felt about him because I no longer hate him. I actually do like him now and he and Ella make quite the pair! (But Easton is still my fave though!)

The ending was probably my favorite part, mainly because that’s where all the excitement happens and it gave me the dramatics I was so desperately waiting for.

Overall, Twisted Palace was a satisfying conclusions to one hell of a crazy series! Despite my frustrations with this book, I do feel like it wrapped Ella and Reed’s story well and closed their chapter in The Royals series. NOW I NEED THE OTHER ROYAL STORIES! Easton damn well deserves his own book because he’s my fave and honestly, that’s a good enough reason to give him his own book. Also, can I get more Wade and Val please because those two are cute as hell and I live for their back and forth banter. If you haven’t read this series yet, I highly recommend you do SO NOW. You will thank me later!

I'm Ari, a local NYC bibliophile and a forever daydreamer. You can usually find me with my nose buried in a book and my head up in the clouds. I am also a coffee addict and a chocolate connoisseur. I fell in love with the romance genre about three years ago and I haven't been able to stop reading about happily-ever-afters, which is ironic because I'm a bit of a cynical romantic in real life, haha. I hope you all enjoy my blog and fangirling with me about all the smutty reads!

  1. Yaaaas for this book but noooo for the heaviness! I read this series for fun, mostly, and it’s too bad that the fun takes a bit of a backseat in this book because of the seriousness of the issues. Is the one character that pisses you off Ella’s dad? I feel like it is. I definitely need to pick up this one ASAP. 💕

    1. I was so upset that this book was not as exciting as the previous two 😩😩. I’m hoping that the spin-off series can make up for my disappointment with Twisted Palace. And yes, Ella’s father annoyed me so much and I was waiting for Ella to tell him to back off but she didn’t. It was still a good book, just not what I was expecting.

  2. I’ve heard others say the same thing about this one being disappointing. I know I will feel similarly too because I’m not happy about Ella being turned into a weaker character. Her strength was one of my favorite part of the series. I’m glad you still liked it overall though.
    Great review!

    1. One of the main reasons I liked this series in the first place was because of Ella and no BS attitude so it was sad to see her totally take a back seat and not speak up like she used to. I was waiting for her to throw down one more time, tbh. I’m hoping the spin-off series is better and I can’t wait for more Easton!

    1. Thank you, Geraldine! I felt like this was “The Steve Show” and he stole the spotlight from Reed and Ella. I really wished he would’ve stayed dead. And I could totally go for a book on Callum! He deserves an HEA after all he’s been through.
