Synopsis via Goodreads: Love is a circus.

“Every day,” he says lowly, “I hold a person’s life in my hands. The circus is based one-hundred percent off trust. I give it all to someone, and they give it all to me.”

The best aerial technique won’t land 21-year-old Thora James her dream role in Amour—a sexy new acrobatic show on the Vegas strip. Thora knows she’s out of her element the second she meets Amour’s leading performer. Confident, charming and devilishly captivating, 26-year-old Nikolai Kotova lives up to his nickname as the “God of Russia.”

When Thora unknowingly walks into the crosshairs of Nikolai’s after-show, her audition process begins way too soon. Unprofessional. That’s what Nik calls their “non-existent” relationship. It’s not like Thora can avoid him. For one, they may be partners in the future—acrobatic partners, that is. But getting closer to Nik means diving deeper into sin city and into his dizzying world.

Thora wants to perform with him, but when someone like Nikolai attracts the spotlight wherever he goes—Thora fears that she’s destined to be just background to his spellbinding show.

This sexy and exhilarating New Adult Romance can best be described as Cirque du Soleil meets the steamy, athletic romance of Center Stage.

Last summer I finally decided to binge read the Addicted/Calloway Sisters series and completely fell head-over-heels in love with the Ritchie twins and their books. This series has become one of my ALL-TIME FAVORITE series and I will forever recommend it to anyone who is looking for an epic New Adult series to read. This year, I decided to start finally start the Aerial Ethereal series and hoped that I would also fall in love with this series. And once again, the Ritchie twins did not disappoint!

With only one year left before she graduates college, Thora James decides to throw caution to the wind and chase after her lifelong dream of joining the circus. She packs her suitcase and heads to Las Vegas hoping to land a role in Amour. On her first night in Vegas, she meets Nikolai Kotova and an interesting night leads to an awkward encounter the next day when Thora goes to her audition and finds out that Nikolai is one of the performers in Amour. But when she doesn’t make the cut, Thora will have to decide to between packing her bags and heading back to her small town, or taking Nikolai up on his offer to train her and give her chance at center stage one more shot.

Amour Amour is a New Adult romance about taking chances, following your dreams and falling in love along the way. This is the first romance book I’ve ever read that involved a circus and I definitely feel like circus romances should become a thing! To be honest, I’ve never had any interest in ever seeing the circus, but this book makes me want hop on a plane to Sin City and see what the fuss is all about, especially if there are Russian acrobats are involved. 😉 I absolutely adored the cast of characters in this book and I loved the fact that family and friendships plays such an important role in this book. The Kotova family may fight and argue from time to time, but they are a tight-knit bunch who support each other no matter what. I was actually really surprised at how involved Thora’s parents were when it came to her pursuing her dreams of becoming an acrobat. While they didn’t fully agree with her decision to leave school and join the circus, they still supported her and let her know that no matter what, they would be there for her. It’s not often that I read a NA book where parents are so supported of their children chasing after their dreams and it’s one of the reason why I enjoyed this book so much.

Thora James is who I wish I could be. I wish I could be so brave to take a chance like that and risk it all just for the hope of achieving one of my dreams. I admire her strength and her “try, try again” attitude so much. Despite not making it into Amour, she doesn’t give up. She stays in Vegas and works with Nikolai to better her act so she can audition again. She takes a shady job to support herself and even when things become more difficult, she doesn’t give in. She’s not willing to settle and I’m so here for stories likes this one! Nikolai Kotova is one amazing guy and I wouldn’t have expected less from a book written by the twins. He has made a number of sacrifices just so he could be the best guardian to his younger siblings. He is hard-working and goal oriented and he loves living the dream as an acrobat. Don’t write him off as an arrogant asshole because he is most certainly not one. The romance in this book is very slow, but that’s a good thing, and I loved how supportive they were of each other and the fact that the over-dramatics were kept to a minimum.

Amour Amour was a great start to another series by the Ritchie twins and I’m so ready for the other books in this series. I’m crossing my fingers that Timo and John get their own book because I was living for their banter in this book. Fans of the Addicted series will also love this book, mainly because of the numerous Addicted references made throughout this book. I WAS LIVING FOR THE REFERENCES! At this point, I am convinced that there is no book that the Ritchie twins can write that I won’t fall in love with.

I'm Ari, a local NYC bibliophile and a forever daydreamer. You can usually find me with my nose buried in a book and my head up in the clouds. I am also a coffee addict and a chocolate connoisseur. I fell in love with the romance genre about three years ago and I haven't been able to stop reading about happily-ever-afters, which is ironic because I'm a bit of a cynical romantic in real life, haha. I hope you all enjoy my blog and fangirling with me about all the smutty reads!

  1. My friends pushed Addicted series my way so many time that I lost count, but I haven’t read it yet. Hides in shame. Involved and supportive parents are rare in NA. The reader meet broken characters from broken families more often in this genre. I’m glad to hear there was positive family representation in this book. Slow burn romance is my favourite kind. Wonderful review, Ari! I’ll definitely give this book a try, though I should probably read Addicted series first, don’t want to miss all those references.

  2. I read this a year or two ago and remember loving it. I have a thing for romances which involve any kind of athleticism so one involving the circus and aerial acrobatic type stuff just ticked all my boxes. I’ve not read the Addicted series so I didn’t appreciate the references but it definitely got me interested and I didn’t realise until you reviewed there’s another book coming out in this series! I definitely need to do a romance binge read of the Addicted series and reread this.
